Don’t forget — today is Constitution Day

Here is a Nevada City parade to celebrate the day:
I have filed this one under the Obama column since he is the one charged with executing the laws of the nation and thus the articles of the Constitution. Although I see that McClintock and Lungren have both taken advantage of the occasion for a bit of self-promotion. After all, Nevada city is in the red territory of northern California. Plus appearances from a chubby Obama and a hairy Bill Clinton.
Tom McClintock’s strength is also his greatest liability

Many of the things Tom McClintock says make me cringe.
I thought his attack on Charlie Brown for allegedly not supporting our troops was absolute rubbish. Brown worked in military intelligence — if someone in Brown’s shoes opposes the war in Iraq then we should listen. I find it scary that McClintock would so readily jump on the bandwagon of war despite not having reviewed the intelligence that Brown had.
What does this say about McClintock? Is he an independent thinker?

Tom McClintock’s Military Problem

McClintock’s attack on Charlie Brown’s support for our troops is problematic because not only has Brown served in every conflict from Vietnam to Desert Storm he is also donating 5% of his campaign funds to veterans in need. McClintock, on the other hand, has never served and is not making donations to veterans. His attacks are thus more revealing of his own style of politics than they are of Charlie Brown’s support for troops.

Tom McClintock, a California Conservative against McCain

McClintock is hoping to win in California’s 4th district (Sacramento county, El Dorado county, and several surrounding counties). As his website points out “California’s 4th Congressional district is widely considered to be California’s most conservative Republican congressional seat.”
