Evan Bayh: Iran only respects strength

Bayh says that getting the Chinese on board to sanction Iran could take ages. Bob Corker speaks about the classified material he saw regarding the nuclear site, and also suggests that we try to stir-up “certain movements” in Iran. He does not find the missile test scheduled by Iran tomorrow to be a provocation.

America and the Chinese Future

Last week we heard much in the press about a report called Global Trends 2025: A World Transformed. This is a publication of the National Intelligence Council. A group comprised of 16 key US intelligence agencies. The NIC has produced such a report every four years for the last 16 years.

The report suggests that American dominance across the globe will wane whilst the dominance of China — and a few other nations — will increase. It certainly appears that China is set to make a profound imprint on the world in the coming decades. But the question is at what cost? Should the US be worried? China’s climate plan: give us 1% of your GDP

Is China trying to score points on America’s new-found “redistribution of wealth” vibe? Maybe they thought they’d just throw the idea out there now that Obama is the president-elect.

Their idea, proposed this week at a climate change summit in Beijing, is that wealthy nations should divert as much as 1% of their GDP to help developing nations tackle climate change. › Continue reading
