Balls in a vice grip? American Dependence on the auto industry

GM has launch a new ad explaining what would happen if the US let the Big Three auto-makers fail. The ad suggests that a loan of $25 billion to the auto industry would save American $156 billion in lost revenue and would save millions of jobs. The ad also makes an argument for national security, suggesting that if the auto-makers fail then American large-scale industry could be crippled in the event of war.
